We are looking for an experienced, skilled, SEND mediator to deliver Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) Mediations and Dispute Resolution (DR) meetings for families and young people aged 16 -25.

Mediation and Dispute Resolution are statutory services providing the right to families and young people to resolve disagreements with the local authority. This provision falls under the Children and Families & Act 2015 regarding specific decisions about Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP). Guidance regarding disagreement resolution is detailed in the Special Education Needs & Disability (SEND) Code of Practice 2015.
The post holder will undertake preparation for and facilitate mediation meetings once the relevant information from the mediation coordinators is passed to them. This will require the mediator to undertake their role in line with best practice and SEND Mediation Standards at all times, the Trust’s policy and procedures and the contractual obligations/specifications agreed with each purchasing Local Authority.
Although the post-holder will be based at Central Office in Cheadle employees will be required to drive to Local Authorities where we have mediation contracts.
The post-holder will be expected to be flexible in their approach and be prepared to undertake other duties when required.They should also be able to work independently, and use their initiative to undertake tasks which may not be explicit within the job description.
The post holder will be Educated to minimum A Level and/or NVQ Level 3, have excellent literacy and numeracy skills, will have a Mediation qualification and obtained GCSE English (A-C)
