Creative Support is a not-for-profit social care organisation with a Head Office in Stockport, who aim to promote the independence, inclusion and wellbeing of our service users. The Health and Safety Team are responsible for fire prevention and regulatory compliance of our housing services for service users. This is a great opportunity for an energetic and flexible individual to develop as specialist Fire Safety Advisor to join a small and dedicated Health and Safety Team with a very varied caseload. This role will require the successful candidate to provide specialist advice ensuring the business consistently meets regulatory and best practice requirements for the management of fire safety throughout Creative Support.
Reporting into the Health and Safety Manager you will be responsible for inspecting and surveying properties for fire and other relevant risks to comply with the Fire Safety Regulations and associated legislation. The successful candidate will have worked in a similar role before so will have a good working knowledge of risk assessment processes and fire regulation. You will be proficient in diagnosing common defects and will hold the following (or IFE equivalent) qualifications – NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety.
For this role, you will require:
• Third Party Certificated as either a – Fire Risk Assessor or Auditor through the Institution of Fire Engineers Register, or evidence of working towards
• Membership of, or working towards membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers or similar organisation
• The ability to demonstrate experience in both inspection and management of Fire Safety
• Possess thorough up to date knowledge of fire safety legislation and best practice
• Ability and experience of reviewing plans, strategies and designs to ensure principles of Fire Safety are compliant
The role requires a high degree of independent thought and action, must be self-motivated with excellent communications and interpersonal skills. The Fire Safety Advisor must be able to organise their own work and meet business needs. You should be able to recognise when decisions have implications beyond the scope of this role and escalate appropriately for clarification, advice and support. This role will involve nationwide travel for which accommodation and transport will be provided.
