Stockport family model
In Stockport we believe that relationships are key to service delivery that achieves successful outcomes which is why we do not hand on to a different social work team depending upon the point a child is at in services. We aim for children and families to have just one social worker whilst they are in service. We will support you developing these great working relationships by investing in your support, training and development.

We work using a restorative approach to support families to enable children and families to remain together wherever possible, and where this is not possible to ensure that children are safeguarded and able to achieve the very best outcomes. You will be passionate about relationship-based social work, proud of your profession and able to reflect and think creatively about how you can build relationships to make a difference with children and families.
You will work within a locality alongside colleagues from health and early years, as well as borough-wide specialist services so that you can access the support, and advice you need easily to deliver the best interventions for children and families, in a system where we share problems and look for solutions together rather than try to off-load them to others.
Alongside your allocated children you will also be the link social worker for specific schools within your locality and be a key member of the team around the school. You will offer advice and support to professional colleagues that enables them to confidently support children and families to receive the early help and support they need with the aim of preventing the need to escalate to statutory social care services.
