Signpost Stockport for Carers believes that being a carer should not be a barrier to leading a fulfilling life. We are an independent registered charity that offers practical and emotional support, information, training and activities to anyone, from the age of 6 years old, that is providing unpaid care to a partner, relative, friend or neighbour in Stockport.

Office Support Worker
Location: Signpost Stockport for Carers, Adult Carer Support Team.
Salary: Up to £20,000 per annum dependant on experience
Working Pattern: Within the hours of Monday – Friday, 8am – 6pm
Working Hours: 30 hours per week. Days/hours will be discussed with the successful candidate.
Contract Type: 1 year contract (possibility of extension)

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to get involved with all areas of the Adults Carers Team at Signpost. The work will be varied, with different tasks every day. It is something that really is needed and the successful candidate will have a real opportunity to make a difference!
The Office Support Worker will have two key responsibilities; Firstly, they will be the initial port of call for the carers contacting our organisation looking for support , whether this is by telephone, online, social media or face to face- but this is much more than a receptionist role! The successful candidate will be expected to have an excellent understanding of what life can be like as a carer, and know how to have person centred conversations around strengths and challenges. They will be actively listening to carers, recording information on our database accurately and completely and appropriately referring to services internally and externally. Secondly, they will take a lead on ensuring the smooth running of the Heatons Centre, our social enterprise. They will be liaising with those using the space and will be booking in appointments. This requires superb attention to detail and exceptional customer service skills. The position will also involve updating Signpost’s website, providing administrative support (including taking minutes) to the director and team, getting involved with fundraising and promotion and supporting colleagues with events and activities for our carers.
