In 2020, Stockport Homes achieved three star ‘extraordinary’ Best Companies accreditation and were recognised as one of Britain’s best employers for the eleventh consecutive year running by the Sunday Times newspaper. We are the Number 1 Not-For-Profit Organisation to work for in the Sunday Times Top 100 list for 2020 (Number one in the Best Companies Top 25 Housing Organisations to Work for) and have also achieved Platinum Investors in People status for our approach to people management and development.
We are a values driven organisation committed to achieving our mission of ‘One team, transforming lives’, but we’re also entrepreneurial, maximising the value of our money and resources.
We are now looking to recruit a number of Project Workers to join us on permanent and fixed term contracts, who can inspire people to make positive changes, realise their full potential and lead a fulfilled life.
Offering practical support and advice to promote resident independence and development, you will support residents in life skills training sessions in both formal and informal settings and manage and maintain a good standard of temporary accommodation provided for homeless families, single men and single women, sited at 3 separate locations.
Collecting rent/service charges and supporting residents to set up bank accounts and direct debits, you must ensure the comfort and well-being of residents and minimise distress with a sympathetic and common sense approach to emergency situations. Agreeing and implementing individual support plans, you will accompany residents to appointments and meetings outside the scheme in a supportive capacity and prepare properties to be let after they have been vacated.
Candidates for this opportunity must demonstrate a high level of empathy but be capable of maintaining healthy boundaries with clients. Confident when challenging behaviour / resistance in others, you should have previous experience of providing support / befriending service to vulnerable people and an awareness of general resident support needs and specific support services / referral systems. A basic understanding of the benefits system, current rates of benefits and entitlement would be beneficial as would an awareness of issues relating to people who are homeless.
